Great Western "Nearly 45 Years Later"

In the late 1950's, the Great Western Single Action revolver was manufactured by Great Western Arms Company a separate company formed by the then principals of E.M.F. Company to buy the assets of the original Great Western Company. At that time, the Great Western was the only production single action revolver on the market. In many ways, the Great Western was true to the original 1873 Single Action including size, feel, handling and the fact that some of the parts were interchangeable with original 1873. The gun was well received and filled a void in the marketplace, since Colt had ceased production of its single action revolver.Over 50,000 of these guns were produced by Great Western, and its successor companies. Today, many are still in use at SASS shootouts. The Company presented a matched set of engraved Great Western Single Action Revolvers to actor John Wayne, and a nickel-plated, engraved Great Western to the then President, Dwight D. Eisenhower. Today, Great Western revolvers are still the prized possessions of many serious collectors of single action revolvers. Over the past 45 years, E.M.F. Company, Inc. has had its single action revolvers manufactured under the names of "Western Marshall", "Dakota", "Hartford" and "Hartford Premier".E.M.F. Company, Inc. is now proud to announce our latest innovation. The all new Great Western II has been developed over the past three years in collaboration with F. LLI Pietta of Italy. We have incorporated the knowledge and experience gained in continuously marketing single action revolvers over the past 45 years. We understand the value and importance of authenticity and attention to details concerning contours, overall cosmetics and interchangeability of parts. E.M.F. Company Inc., based on its close relationship with SASS and Cowboy Action Shooting, has developed this single action to satisfy the demands of this sport. The Great Western II has been designed to offer authenticity, durability and affordability to satisfy the needs of the most demanding connoisseurs of single action revolvers.
