1863 NEW MODEL SHARPS CARBINE By Chiappa, Italy The “New Model 1863” Sharps carbine is a historic design of a percussion rifle conversion that was developed after the Civil war in 1867 which was a conversion to fire the 50-70 center fire metallic cartridge. These carbines were re-issued and saw service during the Indian Wars and found their way into private hands and were used throughout the western frontier.

of this remarkable conversion. The “New
Model 1863” is based on the 1863 Sharps Civil War era breechloading carbine
with the centerfire conversion. Our
model is chambered in 45-70 for shooters desiring the ever-popular cartridge
that is readily available. The Chiappa
Firearms “New Model 1863” features a blued 22” round barrel, with a case
hardened receiver, adjustable rear carbine sights and a pinned front blade sight. |
