1863 NEW MODEL SHARPS CARBINE
By Chiappa, Italy
The “New Model 1863” Sharps carbine is a
historic design of a percussion rifle conversion that was developed after the
Civil war in 1867 which was a conversion to fire the 50-70 center fire metallic
cartridge. These carbines were re-issued and saw service during the Indian Wars
and found their way into private hands and were used throughout the western
frontier.
Chiappa Firearms is proud to make available a replica
of this remarkable conversion. The “New
Model 1863” is based on the 1863 Sharps Civil War era breechloading carbine
with the centerfire conversion. Our
model is chambered in 45-70 for shooters desiring the ever-popular cartridge
that is readily available. The Chiappa
Firearms “New Model 1863” features a blued 22” round barrel, with a case
hardened receiver, adjustable rear carbine sights and a pinned front blade sight.
