1851 Pepperbox - Future Product ! This is a modern version of a handgun assembled by a frontier gunsmith in the 1850's or 1860's, using miscellaneous parts found in his shop. In doing this, he attached the barrel cluster from a Blunt & Syms "Dragoon" pepperbox to the frame of a Colt revolver. The resulting pistol was better balanced and more accurate than the usual pepperbox, and was well suited for the use of multi-ball loads, which increased the shooter's chances of hitting his target.
With our combination set, the owner can have two guns in one. On the same frame, he can install either the pepperbox barrel cluster, or the standard Colt barrel and cylinder, in just a minute or two. Moreover, the pepperbox barrel cluster takes the same .375 ball as the conventional Navy Colt. |
